SESSION 1: COVID-19 and the Impacts on SIRS Reporting and EOY Certification

COVID -19 and the Impacts on SIRS Reporting and EOY Certification will review changes impacting data reporting and learn about tools and resources to support and strengthen your district’s internal verification and certification protocols for the 2019-20SY and beyond. Through the use of Department Resources, participants will understand the impact of 2019-20 SIRS reporting and End of Year Certification of data in the Level 2 Data Warehouse. Our session will culminate with a Q&A session and next steps.

Rose LeRoy is the Director of Educational Data and Research with the New York State Education Department.  She oversees the Office of Information and Reporting Services (IRS) and IRS Informational Technology working with the Department P20 Offices and Department Senior leadership to ensure all statutory and regulatory data reporting for all local education agencies responsible for reporting data to the Student Information Repository System (SIRS) and the Information Data Exchange (IDEx) application in the NYS Business Application Portal (IRSP).  Rose worked as a teacher, Supervisor of Alternative Education Programs, Special Education Program and Related Services, Middle School Assistant Principal and Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, Director of Curriculum, Assessment, Data and Accountability, and Assistant Superintendent in local education agencies serving Jefferson, Lewis, Hamilton, Herkimer, and Oswego Counties for 31 years prior to securing her current role with the Department.This field experience made Rose a “perfect fit” with the Department, having a sound understanding of education policy and the user-end of the data systems while linking it to managing the development, implementation, maintenance and support side of State and federal reporting requirements. Rose and the IRS team are committed to the responsibility while being good stewards of resources for supporting the field in exercising data quality and timely reporting for the stakeholders of New York State that we serve. Rose holds a Certificate of Advance Study in Educational Leadership from Syracuse University, a Master of Science in Education from the SUNY College at Oswego and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the SUNY College at Fredonia. As a firm believer of playing as hard as she works, Rose maintains a healthy work-life balance with a focus of keeping people first and foremost while enjoying the experiences of co-managing her husband, Jon’s business as a professional musician and Jazz organist.
